Trips Group
|
|
The goal of the Trips Group is to facilitate travel and day trips that allow Village members
to get to know each other and form relationships. The group decided to start with day trips
and voted for initial trips to Northport, High Line in NYC and Long Island Wineries.
After our first trip on Oct 7, we feel quite connected to The Village.
Fourteen of us were treated to a day in Northport. Whoever thought that a small nearby town
like Northport could provide such a good time and get us all connected!
The Northport Historical Society and Museum gave us a great tour of the museum and it's exhibit
on Immigration to Northport. Both the exhibit and the walking tour of the city were great!
Our day concluded with lunch at Tim's Shipwreck Diner which turned out to be delightful.
The outdoor dining and the food were both absolutely wonderful!

We did it! Thank you to ALL of our fun budding artists who attended our first Village Arts-Yarns
and Crafts gathering! It was great creating together, as we all got to know each other -- and
started making new friendships!
We loved our time together! Thank you Ronnie Pinkowitz for guiding us, providing the materials,
and teaching us how to create these beautiful, fun, note cards. We shared all our fun ideas
for future gatherings! We laughed and shared fun thoughts. It truly was what we needed! For those
of you who were unable to attend, sorry you missed it. We look forward to seeing you next
time!

And . . here are some fun ideas we shared that we plan to do in the near future!
- Yarns . . knitting, crocheting, needle point and possibly quilting!
- An opportunity to meet with Karla Gideon -- an amazing artist who develops joyous,
lyrical and moving images! We are all excited to learn from this pro. Thank you
Rabbi Susie. Everyone said they want to be a part of it!
Thank you again for being part of this exciting new venture . . as we continue to build our
Village Arts-Yarns and Crafts Group and friendships together!
Watch your e-mail and the
Village Calendar
for some future dates and up-coming events. We can't wait to get together again
soon!

Genealogy Group

The genealogy group will meet on alternating Wednesdays and Thursdays approximately once a month.
During the meetings Jeff Austin will discuss different sources for genealogy research and other
useful tips to trace your family history. Jeff is not a professional genealogist, but a very
experiencesd researcher who is on the board of the LI Jewish Genealogy Society.
Our group is
composed of members with different levels of experience, so each meeting will try to be useful
to everyone. If you want to learn more about your family history, please join our group.
You need to start simply by knowing as many names of grandparents, great grandparents, etc.
And from there there is so much information that you can obtain by just using your computer!
Hope to see you soon!
The next meeting of our group is 7:30 PM Wed Nov 3.
See Village Calendar
for details.
